Meandering Thoughs

Take ye heed. This post hath no rhyme or reason.
Here I sit clacking away on the keyboard tonight. A few random thoughts are going around in my mind, so I thought I would share them with you. Why? Because I can because it's my blog.

Thought one: Why does Facebook post on your wall every time you breathe? It is just discouraging to look at the long list of likes and comments that you made and think about how much time you took to do them.

Thought two: I have narrowed down my list of eleven agencies to two or three. Now we are getting somewhere. Beginning to think self-publishing looks inviting... but I will resist the temptation to throw my hands in the air just yet.

Thought three: It has been almost two years since I began to write my book. Happy anniversary to me.

Thought four: I emailed an agent asking if he accepts science fiction or fantasy. He wrote back saying "No. Try (name of agent I first sent my proposal to)." God definitely has a sense of humor.

Maybe, if all else fails, try self-publishing (amassing lots of sales ;) ) and then using that sales record to entice agents and bigger publishers? That's what Scott Appleton did...and it seems to be working nicely lol.

Happy anniversary!

Maybe you are supposed to submit to the agent later ;)

To the end,

*laughs* Thanks, Watcher and Keeneye.

Nathan, that does sound like a good idea, but I doubt that I am as capable of doing it as Sir Appleton is. I do appreciate the suggestions, though. Time will tell what God's plan is for my book.

Loved the comment you left on Writer's Passion about the Harry Potter books, especially your last paragraph about our responsibility as writers not to tempt the reader to delve into something that isn't pleasing to God. Well said.

Have you thought of attending the Florida Christian Writers Conference in early March? They have numerous opportunities to meet agents and publishers as well as having editors evaluate a chapter or two right on the spot. In addition there are fantastic courses on how to write, how to market your book, etc. Bryan Davis teaches the teen section. It's a very God-honoring conference. Araken and I attended last year and we both thought it was very worthwhile.

Thank you for visiting my blog, Sonbeam3! I have heard so many good things about that Conference, but I have unfortunately never been. Hopefully, when I have the time and then funds, I will go. It will not happen this year or next, I expect, but the more I hear of it, the more I want to go. Thanks for recommending it!

2 years? You're ahead of me. I took 5 years to finish my first novel. True, there is probably a year's worth of time in there that I didn't work on it due to school or other restrictions, but still.

Have you looked at/purchased any of the resource books for publishing? Like the "Writer's Market" or "Christian Writer's Market Guide." They may have more options for you. I just got the massive tomes and am slowly working through them.

God be with you!

Greetings, Rien!!!

I have not read any books regarding publishing. That may be detrimental to me, but I just have not done it. Perhaps I shall look into the ones you suggest. Thank you!
