Writing the Book Proposal

A few days ago, I resent the e-mail to the second publisher asking about the agent. Let's hope they realize that I am serious for an answer this time. :)
While I'm waiting for a response from the publisher, I have begun to write my book proposal. It is going to take more time than I thought! Apparently, there is a certain way to do this, according to Michael Hyatt (the CEO of Thomas Nelson, you'll remember). I am under the impression that the proposal does not need to be followed to the letter of the law, but since this is my very first one, I don't want to experiment too much. When I am a million dollar author, I won't worry about it as much, but until then.... (ha ha, a millionaire, right. In my dreams!)
If you don't know, a book proposal is an overview of what you are presenting to the agent. It contains all the information, and I mean all. From the the manuscript length, to your selling ideas, to your biography, to a description of what your audience will look like. Yeah, a lot of work. And it doesn't help that every time I think about it, I get butterflies in my stomach!
It is so close now. Soon I will know if I am to be an author. Very scary.
I know that most first time authors get rejected. That's alright. God's plan will come about. If getting published is His plan, then whoopee!!! If not, then He knows best.
Just this experience is getting me all hyped up. This whole process is my dream coming true.
So, that is the short update.

Hey Storyteller! Keeneye here!

This is really cool that you're doing this. I can't wait to get to writing my proposals ;).

But don't worry about this first round too much. If it is God's plan for you to be a writer, as I hope it is, and you're still rejected. Perhaps it was meant for you to make your story better. Even more amazing than I'm sure it already is.

So basically, don't get discouraged. Bryan Davis had Raising Dragons rejected literally 200+ times before finally getting the right version done and being published.

So keep up the good work my friend ;)

Keeneye! You found it! (Or you followed the link... whichever...)

Thank you for your great encouragement! It is exactly what I need right now. I had forgotten about Davis. You are absolutely right. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

You keep up the good work too. I know you've been struggling with writing yourself, but don't give up. I'm praying for you. :)

Can't wait to read your blog! ;)

Thanks, and may God guide yours. Where are you by the way on it?

I am in the final editing stages. I'm going to have to do a little more rewriting than I previously thought, but for the most part, the manuscript is finished! I can't believe I've gotten this far with it; it has totally been a God thing. :)
Thanks for asking!

I'm so proud of you, Storyteller. You are doing an awesome job. In these last few months, I've seen God do so much through your writing! And to think, it all started with just a little shake of your shoulders! lol! I love you, and as Seth said, may God continue to guide your pen...then maybe He'll give me a hand with mine. :)

He sure has! I remember like, four years ago when you could hardly write! lol, jk, you could always write, it just wasn't always GOOD... lol. Anywho, I guess I can write pretty well, but I think my gifts are somewhere else, I just have to figure out exactly WHERE. But thanks for the encouragement! I'll definitely keep trying! :)
